A lifetime career in tech, & the one thing that remained constant was bloody printers causing grief 🤷‍♂️
Whether it was spider port ones at the Council, network ones or directly connected ones, the buggers could be relied on to always screw up at the least convenient time 🤣

When I was between teaching jobs I spent a year fixing computers on short term contracts in school
One of the "short term contracts" last 2 whole terms at the school
The IT manager had a rule that no teacher was allowed to do anything with a printerr beyond switching it on and off

even changing the ink was to be done by an IT technician

partly to make sure decent ink was used and not some cheap stuff they got of some dodgy web site

but mostly because they are all programmed to go wrong in mysterious ways at the slightest hint of a possibility
at least we could check it and make sure the damn thing was working before we left and it meant we got to check every one every few weeks so the teachers didn;t "optimise their operating environment"
especially ARt teachers - who used them a lot and saw no reason to not have one next to a sink
and PE teachers - just because they were PE teachers and were notorious (that applied in every school I ever worked in!!!)

Right - today

anyway - just remembered that the ebike battery needs charging
it needs it more often in winter due to the cold
but also can;t be charged in the shed as it is too cold - so I have a timer thing and I have given it 4 hours and set it off in the utility room

Have to have an early lunch as I am off to Warrington (I have had my injections!) to help some people with something computery - must look up what!

anyway - must remember to take some stuff to the charity shop on the way back - SWMBO has "seen some things in the internet" so the older stuff that was "just what she wanted" a few months ago has to go

Now that she is feeling better - it is costing a fortune!!!

In my case, I'm convinced it is cold 🥶
Yer thinking on this is all wrong.

Being cold is just a state of mind.
Convince yourself it isn't cold and you'll not feel cold.

Yeah - I can do that - used to do it when I was a teacher and had to get the kids to clear off the central quad and get to lessons

Problem was that I was too good at it and sometime ended up shivering quite badly
which is probably not a good thing!!!

Well a friend, against my advice, went out and used the lane I take to reach the meet point. Black ice, straight down, bar tape wrecked, mirror smashed. Pleased to say the rider is OK.

I asked one of my closest riding buddies. "Why does no one listen to us?" He replied " because we are old, obviously stupid and overcautious"

🤣🤣🤣
