Cycle to Screwfix for a replacement PIR switch/ detector thing. To replace a failed unit at the bottom of the garden.
Then install said item. Then wait for dusk to set the light level. Or is there some other way?
Well the project was going spiffingly until I realised that I'd installed the detector before I built the shelves.
So, after I'd removed the stuff on the shelves and then removed the shelving I could get at the junction box, then i found my wiring job of 10 years ago.
This is a bodge that doesn't comply, but it is safe.
A dog's breakfast of wires, no labels and one neutral wire dangling in space. Maybe that's why it doesn't work?
The dangling neutral emerges after various tests as a totally uncommitted neutral. The lines are now photographed and labelled.
Now, the kettle is boiling, a cup of the Earl and a bit of fruit cake are justified.
Why? Because I've managed to install the new PIR switch and everything is good and working
Even tidied the shelves.
