I waved my grandson off at 05.30. He is about 26 **. He did a 2 month tour of Asia (Thailand etc) and few years ago.
During the tour he struck up a friendship with a guy from America and that guy is now touring Europe. Grandson is going down to London to meet up with him. A different world to my youth were North Wales was an exotic holiday.
**Sue used to mentally log all birthdays and years etc.....I am hopeless at it.
Surely this is an oxymoron?

Looks like rain all day here 🙄
Daughter home….dropping her at a pals for lunch whilst we mosey about Melton, then we are all off for some comedy music in town tonight. A venue we’ve not been to before (the Soundhouse). We have suitably low expectations, but are also meeting some pals so it should be fun 🤣

The Comedy Festival began last Monday: loads to see….dozens every day in a huge number of venues. We have about 10 things booked. Arthur Smith cancelled for Sunday though - mobility issue 😳
Ian Stone last Thurs - a very funny fella, look out if he puts a show on near you 👍
What is it the old Readers Digest used to say? “Comedy: the best medicine” - good advice I have followed since reading my parents in the 70s 🤣

I saw Arthur Smith at the Edinburgh Fringe several years ago. He was excellent. He just related stories about growing up in London, his family etc. He interspersed his monologue with songs, all Leonard Cohen numbers. He had the hat too and looked quite like the older Leonard Cohen. Of course being the fringe it was a small theatre, just before he wrapped things up a chap appeared from the rear of the room, stark naked and " playing " an accordian ( fake ) along to a suitable soundtrack. He danced his way down the aisle, back and forth in front of the stage before " exit stage left " There was an initial WTF moment before everyone burst out laughing and cheering.

Back in the '70's couple of my Brothers worked for a time in Colwyn Bay. I visited them on occasion, usually making a weekend of it. My only memories are of their local " The Sun " IIRC that might have been on the seafront? My only other visit was to Ryader with Mrs Tkk to do a very lumpy 20 mile race. It was at the time of the Halley-Bop Comet so aaages ago 🤔

I have breakfasted. It's now a beautiful day. If I can't ride, (spits feathers) I decided to have my own private cafe stop for breakfast. Beans on, two poached eggs, brown sauce.......food for the gods.

Next stop Aldi to see if there are any Dutch babies in the centre isle............I rang Tesco and got the manager "Do you have a Dutch baby in stock?" I didn't feel "Oh, God another bloody Guardian reader" was quite the reply I was looking for........

I cook brunch on Saturday and find it relaxing and enjoyable. Mushrooms, tomato, spinach, hash browns, beans, toast and veggie sausages.

How long have you been vegetarian? Do you not like the taste/texture of meat or is it for ethical reasons? I think I might have asked before but can’t remember what you said.

I keep researching different types of diets and find it hard to get my head round the extremes like long term carnivore or vegan. I think for me, ditching the ultra processed stuff and just concentrating on whole foods with a good mix of leaner meat and fish combined with plenty of fruit and veg feels the way to go. I’ve been eating better since just before Christmas and hope I can keep it up.
