@Dave7 I've been on statins for a couple of months now as I couldn't get my cholesterol down with diet alone. No side effects at all. I'll have a blood test next month to see if anything is different.
Obviously, it's your choice to take them ir not but I'd have thought a bit of info from Daktari should be forthcoming before prescribing them (or anything, actually!

I know Doctors get incentive payments for tackling cholesterol so its in thier interests to prescribe Statins.

Out of the blue my Doctor has prescribed Statins for me, no consultation or any problem flagged.
I see from the old thread that there are mixed feelings on it.
I have come this far without them and dont think I'll be rushing to take them

It's clearly a personal choice but I feel if I was your age I would say no. After saying this, I've been on statins for 10 years with no adverse effects whatsoever.

I think it’s a bit of thing get to a certain age and they prescribe them without having you in to discuss. I have had a couple of texts from my surgery suggesting I go on them. I have no history of heart problems or related issues or a family history of such. So it just I’m old fart.

A 20 yr old cyclist killed at 05:45 in Northampton this morning in 'a collision between a truck & a lorry' near the railway station.. ☹️

What is the difference between a truck and a lorry?

Mine did too, a few months ago, along with a generic video and letter that said they were too busy dealing with sick patients to see me personally to discuss 🙄

They sent the thing to over 100 patients 🧐

I popped into a local pharmacist to discuss my blood test results, & she agreed they were a little too enthusiastic & I could ignore it.

Makes me wonder what bonus the surgery is on for getting patients into statins 🫣

Remember: a patient cured is a customer lost 😉

Doing my best to keep fit: managed my all-time record of skiing 53km on Saturday 🤣
Just this week left of our crazy ⛷️ month in the mountains, & the snow is still falling - perhaps another 4-6” tonight 😜
