The Retirement Thread

[Dave7]

Morning all

Dull and showery here.
Off to Tool Zone in Minehead first thing to pick up some threaded rod, then Tescos for a bit of shopping before taking the pup for a walk if it's not tipping down. She really doesn't like getting wet.

Sounds like my kind of dog !

Dash, like most Greyhounds won't step outside if there is the slightest rain falling!

[numbnuts]

Morning, we has rain, none to warm either.

[Elybazza61]

Grey and chilly but dry at the moment here in the East but rain forecast from around 11:00 for the rest of the day.

Had a mooch in the garden, breakfast and coffee .

Will nip to the shops and market in a while and might actually get on the turbo this afternoon, otherwise more sorting out stuff to get rid of.

[Binky]

Morning.
Wet and misty here. Forecast for weekend is better but it's been downgraded from potentially another hot spell to just warm.
A day of indoor chores and I'll be packing bike to head away for weekend from tomorrow. Combining weekend away with wife doing some marathon walk thing, me riding and then on Sunday moving youngest out of Uni house as she's finished.

Wet and misty here.

like my Y fronts at week 15.

[screenman]

Morning all, I have spent about 3 hours clearing old files and photo's off of my computer, it will be interesting to see if it works and better. Have a good one despite the gloomy weather.

Any way to put the bike in your car and drive to a completely different start point ?

Oh yes - but I never do

but I should really - just kinda feel like cheating if I don;t start and finish at home!!

Did you mis-type that - only typed one 5

Good morning from a grey Dorset. It's a tad chilly for the time of year and I've noticed that the heating has been coming on at random times throughout the day. Had a notification that the library book I reserved so I will pop up the road later. I have a passport document that needs witnessing, I will pop into the Pharmacy and see if they offer the service, else it's the Doctors surgery and see how long that I need to wait ( £35 for a signature )

I used to be the goto in the family for passport stuff as I used to be a teacher

but since we got married I can;t do that anymore

have had a few neighbours ask over the years but not for ages

Similar here, Mrs Tkk retired Nurse, friends in various professions that fit the criteria but now retired.

Well its raining

that sort of rain that feels like it is set in for the day

sort of things where my dog would have pestered me to go for a walk (she liked her routine)
and gone mad when I picked up the lead and opened the door

then stuck her nose out and turned back to go back to her bed!!

but we had a rule - normally 2 walks a day
but rain could cancel one if it was bad enough
but never 2 in a row no matter how bad the rain was

I wouldn;t mind - she was an Alsatian (GSD in metric) and lived outside a lot
so her coat was waterproof
one shake and she was dry

I had to change everything sometimes and hang clothes all over the house to dry
she was already dry and curled up behind the sofa!!!

I think this might be the coolest and wettest start to June I can remember for a long time.

2007 Mo, the year I left Minehead on 28th May and arrived back in Poole on 4th July experiencing what was described at the time as " the wettest June in living memory " 🙂

Still raining in Minehead...

I suggest a ride that I used to love.
Take the bike to New Brighton.
Free parking all day.
You can ride from there towards Chester traffic free along the seafront (apart from Hoylake/West Kirby)......I did a 70 miler there.
On a nice day its beautiful.
Fish n chips plus ice cream at Parkgate or New Brighton, what's not to like.
