Coooeeee. 16 deg and a bit breezy.

Talking of self checkouts. I prefer them easier and faster and I don't have to stand in a queue waiting for someone who wants to talk the 10 minutes and takes ages to get their money or card out, then takes aged to fill their bags.

Aldi self serve check outs are brilliant.

Stay safe peeps :hello:

You missed the bit where they suddenly produce a dozen money-off coupons that need checking.

I jiggled the middle room the other day. Brought the Wattbike through to sit beside the treadmill and set up a spare 42” telly in front of them both. I have Zwift installed but was just watching a virtual video while walking earlier.

I feel your pain, there is nothing like back pain, I've had to live with it nearly all my life
Co Codamol is your friend, if your stomach it OK with them.

Was prescribed that once, many years ago.
Took some (2) in my lunch break at work for my bad back and couldn't function afterwards. Walking around in a daze.
A colleague had to take me home.
Bowels didn't work for 3 days afterwards.
Never again!

Three weeks now of a persistent noise in my ears. Driving me around the bend. It's a sort of "ungh" followed by a semi-scream, and some clapping. It goes round and round and bloody round from about 2.00pm to 10.00pm. When my wife goes out it seems to stop. Tennis! Tennis with the telly on constantly for about eight hours a day. Jeeez. And it's the female players. Why do they have to grunt, scream and shout with every shot????

It’s because they want to sound like old men when they get up from a chair 😂😂😂😂

Just been round the shops trying to get some milk and a few otehr things

apparently there is a shortage of 4 pint cartons of milk in Widnes!!!

anyway - went to B&M to try there (stilll none) and got some flapjacks while I was there

got to the till and scanned my card as usual - seemed OK but was not really looking
Cashier said the card had not gone through
so I tried again and watched this time - definately said "approved" but that was all
she said it had failed again

I insisted it HAD said approved so she took the printots and went to speak to the manager
he said it had not gone through and to try putting the card in
which worked

got home and checked and the transaction was there FIVE times
so twice for each contactless plus one for the one where I put it in

Now - in the old days I was a programmer and every transaction for the Littlewoods Organisation (except the pools) went through a system I chucked together carefully designed and tested
so I know a lot of the bits of how it works

but anyway - I went back and talked to the manager
nice bloke - clearly up to his eyes in it being a Saturday

but he reckons he has seen this before and last time it was for £69.95 - and it all cleared after a day or so when the bank systems realised the first few transactions were dodgy

so we shall see

I mean - it's only a few quid
but it's MY few quid!!

Sunny this morning with a nice breeze.

Yesterday had an early start to get the train to Naaridge for a pootle up to Cromer as a recce for the Fridays in August with LucretiaMyReflection of of here aka Claire.

So it was up at 5:15 to get Coffee, breakfast ,a quick shave etc before heading down to the station.

Nice pootle about and not too hot until it got quite muggy as we got to Cromer although obviously it was cooler on the front.

Couple of pics from the end.

Two Fairlight Farans and Cromer pier;

And a nice cool can of Ampersand Helles Lager.

This morning will go to the shops and a bit of thrifting, mooch about at home for the rest of the day and wine and cheese tonight.
Did yo do a short tour? Looks as though you're both carrying a lot of kit.

These systems can be strange. The hotel we stayed in last weekend pushed a note under our room door on Saturday night/Sunday morning. There's a "small" problem with your account. Before breakfast I stopped at reception, your card has been declined. I promised to go back after brekkie.

I checked the app, as expected there were four transactions showing as pending, not declined. I showed the young woman on reception and she agreed we could go home!!! 🤣

Monday the manager called, transactions have failed again. Still pending at my end. Phoned my bank, yes there pending and the receiving bank has marked them for collection on July 2nd, Thursday, three days later. Come Thursday the transactions cleared but no money left the account.

Phoned the hotel. Sabrina and I, first name terms now, lovely lady from Sicilia, agreed we would talk again next Tuesday.

Bizarre.

No just a 105km meander; just sometimes like to experiment with how I load the bike up and how much (or little) actually needed.
That makes sense to me. A good friend is a regular audaxer and in the two or three weeks leading up to a big audax will turn up for our rides on his audax bike with all his kit.

He's on a 600k at the moment and I can see why it's so important for the bike to feel normal from the offset.
