The Retirement Thread

Bonjour tout le monde.
Well, I went for a short ride earlier ( 17 kms ) but came across a stupid driver who thought it was funny to pass me, just 1 foot away, not once but on two occasions.
The first time, I shouted at him and pointed the distance as he watched me in his rear mirror. Because of slow moving traffic, I took a short cut that took me back to the prom further along when he passed me again, still 1 foot away. As he drove away, he put his arm out of his window as if it was funny. I should have taken his reg number but it was a white Jag and there are not many of them around here. If he is local, I will keep an eye out for him and .............

Finally, it looks like my BIL is going to retire. They run a small electrical shop in the village. Doesn't make much money, but he's been resisting retirement, despite SIL wanting to pack it in. Just been to see his son and their new baby and he said he's retiring as he's just got his first state pension and can manage on it (I suspect it's more than the wage they take from the business). BIL has a lot of health issues, mainly his heart - AF and has a built in defib/pacemaker. About time !

Up a bit later this morning for a fry-up after we stayed up a bit later last night after watching Rush (the Hunt/Lauda film).

It's been a cooler one here today and a nice temperature for a ride.

So ended up doing 101km and average of 27.2km ;was pretty windy and early on couldn't tell exactly which way it was coming from(it tends to swirl around a bit out here) but got the route right and had mostly a tail wind coming back.

Got back and we decided to nip in to the 'village' again so that we wouldn't have to bother again until Thursday.

Then had a nice slice of Grapefruit and Quince cake I picked up from the bakery in Downham Market on the way home.

Pretty tired now so nothing will be done from now on and will watch some YouTube stuff tonight.

Club charity ride done.
55miles with 5300 ft of climbing so a tough one. Some brutal sections in there.
Also had a mid ride puncture which was a pain but more so getting bitten by horse flies whilst stopped.
Definitely beer o'clock

Good evening from a sunny Dorset. i have just caught up with the posts as We've been busy entertaining our granddaughter. Home made Pizza last night, Mrs Tkk even made the dough for it. A bit of a mixed bag, using a tube of tomato concentrate didn't work as it was too salty for my liking. Have been doing some document scanning and uploading to a Government website for a friend. Mainly PDF statements from various financial organisations. " Upload up to 100 files " said the upload link, " Bad Gateway " said the website if I attempted to upload more than half a dozen at a time 🤔 All sorted now.

A bit of a mixed bag, using a tube of tomato concentrate didn't work as it was too salty for my liking. Have been doing some document scanning and uploading to a Government website for a friend. Good evening. Nice and cool now after a hot day. After a very good sleep, nine hours straight, I've had a good busy day. Flapjack made, two bikes cleaned and polished, a very good route planned for tomorrow. That's my sort of day.

Even found time to try out a new recipe - Roasted Greek Salad - basically orzo, roasted vegetables and feta. Yummy.

We've watched two episodes of The Dark. Then Mrs P put the footie on. I'm quite enjoying it. Mrs P has spent the last hour whinging and moaning at the telly. It's getting a it wearing. Ah well.
