Morning all . Looks like it’s going to be another day hiding out of the sun , it’s already saying 27 degrees in our lounge.
Went out for a coffee earlier and have already watered the garden . Now sat watching the morning session of the athletics.
The cooler weather at the weekend cannot come quick enough for me , especially as I am on duty at the sailing club . It’s ok sailing in the high 20s or low 30s ( as I did on Wednesday ) . But it’s another thing being sat on the bank or in the rescue boat . Luckily it’s saying low to mid 20s for tomorrow.

I well remember when GB ruled the 800 and 1500 mtrs with Seb Coe, Steve Ovett and Steve Cram.
Also the 100 with Daly.
GB doing very well here as well.

Forgot to say last night


BUT I was attacked by a hawk!!
OK - maybe a falcon

Personally, I am wondering that possibly one of you lot sent it on an assassination mission

we have some Ladies that live in remote places and I reckon one (or more) of them maybe is "closer to nature" than she says
I have known witches in the past and they have been lovely people
but not the sort you want to annoy !
and she sent a Bird of Prey after me for some comments that maybe criticised one of her best friends
maybe someone who might or might not drive a Triumph Acclaim
or one who wears Undies that are classified at a level close to the Elephant's Foot at Chernobyl


but there is another less likely theory


basically we have the new gazebo/pagoda
and now we have new patio furniture including a table and chair

So I was having my dinner at the new table and my wife was reading in the pagoda/ballroom

then suddenly I noticed movement up and to my leftish
looked and saw the spread out tail feather of a bird of prey in attack mode
ducked - they have claws - and put my hands up
and next thing there was a loud thump as it hit the kitchen window behind me

I looked round and just caught a glimpse of it flying off into the trees at the back and to the right

My wife says shw heard it hit the gazebo/zepplin hangar roof slightly and saw it curve round and towards the house and me


AT the time I reckoned it was after my minted lamb burger
(it could have asked - I would have let it have some as they were not that nice!!!)

but with hindsight maybe it was after a squirrel in the trees - missed and hit the pagoda roof
then swerved round into clearish air and ended up heading towards me
and as I moved it tried to climb , cleared me but hit the windows then got control back


probably - kept an eye out for it all evening and didn;t see anything

Cleopatra on the televisual contrivance at the moment - if I remember correctly they started filming this at Pinewood studios but part way through went somewhere else leaving sets and costumes behind which were jumped on by Talbot Rothwell to make Carry On Cleo which was released at the same time as Cleopatra and took more at the box office in the first weeks of screening!

A reasonably pleasant 20 degrees here with a nice breeze so I should really get back out.

Bonjour.
Mrs G fancies having a go at line dancing and she said they have a beginners class every Tuesday morning in the church hall just round the corner.
I guess I will have to give it a go although I am absolutely useless at dancing.

I always think of The League of Gentlemen Christmas Special when line dancing is mentioned .

Bad night last night as I didn't get any sleep as the cough and sore throat got worse and also got a splitting headache ,all made worse with it being a warm night although did wake up with the chills at one point.

So had to scratch from tonights Fridays ride unfortunately .

Have felt a bit better after breakfast and coffee plus some inhaling and tablets but went in to town as we needed to pick up the smoke detectors and now feeling very tired so gawd knows how I'd feel after a 100k ride.

Only plus point is that we picked up some good finds in the charity shops; pair of Spoke trousers for the BH, I got a Howies hoodie and a Helle Hansen base layer and we also got a Keith Brymer-Jones (from the pottery throwadown) porcelain mug.

Will try and get a nap in this afternoon hopefully but I never sleep well in daytime.

A reasonably pleasant 20 degrees here with a nice breeze so I should really get back out.

We have 38c and very uncomforable, tried to have a sleep, but it was too hot and there is no breeze.

20°C here, overcast and very pleasant.

Mrs SD is happy as her new car is now in Germany and will be here for early September. Will be her first automatic or DSG to be more accurate.

Deep thought of the day: is retirement all it's cracked up to be?

I always thought that we would want to be doing oodles of stuff but tbh, a lot of the desire seems to have gone.

Me too I remember the 1980 Olympics like it was yesterday. How can that be 46 years ago ?
