He was with a 'Lady of the Night'.

Sad that we lost him, he was a really good member on here.

Did he 'die on the job'?

Years ago a woman was telling me that the night before, the woman next door to her was erhh uhmm entertaining a guy while her husband was working nights.
Anyway, while on the job the guy had a heart attack and died.
That must have taken some explaining.

My comment was "so he didnt know if he was coming or going".

We weren't allowed to hit around the head area unless it was absolute life or death. Had to go for the fleshy arms or legs.

Oh aye, primary and secondary target areas, but when a sheetbag is using deadly force the equation changes. He was trying to kill, or at least very seriously harm, me and I was entitled to do what ever reasonable and necessary to keep myself alive.

Thelad that broke my arm...I've broken bones before and recognised the sensation, so with only one working arm and him still coming at me I smacked him the love plums. Thats a red target area, one ordinarily off limits, but he had already grievously injured me and J had a reasonable,y held belief that he could kill me if I didn't drop him quickly so it was quite justified in law.

Remembered I hadn’t gone up to pick up my Sumatriptan prescription and wasn’t sure when they closed on a Saturday but itā€˜s 1pm so got it.

The town felt busy so not sure I want to go back out. Might just chill.

Have you got tablets, inhalers or injections, Mo?

The latter 2, particularly the injections, work way faster.

A busy day so far. After new carpets fitted downstairs the downstairs loo door would barely shut as so tight on carpet.
So putting my very amateur carpentry skills to the test I removed door, trimmed bottom by 5mm and refitted. The doors are solid oak and weigh a ton! I had to enlist wife and daughter to assist moving it to garage for trimming.
Anyway, lots of checking and double checking and YouTube videos later door back up and running smooth.

Time for a bike ride.

Rain all day today so I have a Fatbike ride planned for tomorrow when there should hopefully be a bit of squelchy goodness on the trails!

So todays enjoyable task is transcribing my reel-to-reel tapes of pirate radio stations to digital files - I am monitoring the audio which is great fun - currently listening to Mike Ahern on Radio Caroline 1966, the Melody Maker National Beat Contest is on at Brighton's Regent Ballroom, if anyones going could they pick me up a packet of 20 Players fags for three and six please!

Does the Radio Caroline fade in and out and sound very crackly??
otherwise I would not recognise it!!!

Lad I grew up with was a copper

Big lad - 6 foot 6 and played second row forward for a major Rugby Team - nearly played for England
so he was a fit and strong sort of person

He was paired up with a young female copper who was over a foot shorter than him one evening and got called to "a disturbance" at a local leisure Centre

Basically there was a fight between to groups of lad - and as soon as they saw a copper they all turned on them

He was attacked by 2 big lads and it took him a while to "subdue" them - knowing him not with much subtlety but within the rules

he was expecting to turn round and have to save his partner
but she had by them floored 4 and handcuffed 2
apparently the ones that were floored were "rather the worse for wear"

Quiet day today as "recovering" from yesterday's beer festival where I over did it a bit with the stronger beers(8 and 10% ers), haven't done that for a while and hangovers get worse the older you get.

Nice steady rain at the moment after showers earlier so the garden is looking a bit lusher again.
