Overcast here but should stay dry but rain for tomorrow.

Breakfast and coffee consumed and washing up done.

BB on the Trek still not moving so will get the heat gun out later for another go, if it doesn't move it'll have to stay in.

By BB I assume you mean bottom bracket? Is it seized, if so I can't see heat gun working. Time to replace the bearings I'd say.

When I was teachering one of the pupils lived in the next town down the coast
she could have got the bus in and out
but she always walked - said she preferred walking and it kept her fit
did it no matter what the weather

took her about 90 minutes each way

normally I would be worried about things like bullying on the bus etc
but not with this girl - no-one was brave or dumb enough to try to bully her!


She wanted to join the Army and drive a tank - if she did then Russia should be lucky they only picked on Afghanistan and Ukraine (plus a few others) if they had picked on us and we sent her with her tank they would have been destroyed!!!

Fortunately Mind D has inherited my love of walking.,

Good morning. Heavy rain and sunshine, the weather gods can't decide.

Not much on today apart from a routine hospital visit for a colonoscopy. I say routine. This isn't a medically required an examination but part of a trial. Last year following a colonoscopy for investigative purposes I was offered a place on a drug trial. Today's examination is simply the follow up.

I've eaten nothing but chicken and rice since Sunday, nothing for the last 24 hours and taken a rather severe laxative!!!! Feeling a bit crap to be honest. Looking forward to my tea. 😋😛😋

Well I'm up, bit of a lie in this morning, already 23°C supposed to hit high 20's. Will set of to watch the race after lunch.

School starts today locally, and the traffic was already considerably heavier than yesterday FFS.

There is a piece jn our local chipwrapper. Some promised new school isnt goingmto being built as with falling pupil numbers there is no business case for it any more. People are whinging their little darlings now face a 2 mile walk to school! What is wrong with young, fit and healthy people takjng 35 minutes moderate exercise at each end of the day. When I was young I had a 3 mile walk, often in the dark (in December dawn isnt until after 9am in Shetland) just to get to the bus stop for the bus to school at Sandwick, and no one batted an eyelid. It took me about 45 minutes and it was completely normal and natural that everyone would walk some or all of the way to school. We've turned into a nation of lazy, polluting, danger causing, self entitled arses [Rant Mode OFF]

So long as safety measures are diligently enforced i agree with you.
50 years ago in Shetland is, sadly, a far cry from urban/semi rural roads nowadays. A sad fact of life.

Not at all the sort of thing that the adverts on this site seem to promote
I would certainly not buy things like that for my 14 year old grand-daughter!!!

but some rather Goth like key chain things and t-shirts

It was delivered by Relay - who were VERY keen on me changing the delivery to a local shop
for my convenience, of course
They must have sent me 5 or 6 messages saying I should do it

stuff that!

anyway - it is the granddaughter’s birthday soon and we are nearly sorted!

I just have to work out the most embarrassing t-shirt to wear for the birthday cake and singing thing when we go round!

Back from a very enjoyable 3.2 miles. That distance seems about right for me. I had built up to 4 miles but that was when the shin splints started.
Sorry Mr Numbnuts......I had an excellent 7 hours then an extra 1 when I went back at 7.30.
Re walking to school. As a junior I walked 2 miles, all weathers. I recall one year approx 1954 when the snow reached the top of my wellies......I also recall my little calfs being red raw were my wellies slapped them as I trudge through the drifts.
