As I said, daughter and SiL went on a canal boat this weekend.
Also as mentioned, on ebikers ride is the Preston Brook tunnel which is (i think) at 1100 mtrs the longest canal tunnel in Europe with no towpath. They went through it yesterday. As its narrow they let 1 or 2 through then switch ends to let them through the other direction. The journey through takes 20-25 minutes.

I ride past it - OK, over it as that is where the "tow-path" goes - and there are notices

boats in one direction can start between 00 minutes past the hour until 15
then boats from the other direction can come through from 30 until 45

so 15 minutes for a slow boat to get through after the last time to start

I presume it works OK as the sign is quite old and has never changed

although I have seen locals ignore it as "they know better" - which may or may not be true!

Yesterday it took less than 20 minutes but coming back they were stuck behind a slow boat leaving large bow waves....that took 27 minutes.

Today, believe it or not, is international hug a bassist day.
I don’t know but I think you might have made that up 😂😂😂😀😀

On the other hand they probably need it as they are often the unsung hero’s in a lot of bands .

Barnet,
Done blood test
done Wordle - that was close!

new cycling trouser arrived - water resistant and not jeans - which should make winter riding less of a problem

off to an AgeUK thing in an "apartment block" - one of those where you have to be over 60 or something
seems like a nice one - there is a cafe and it is always full of people chatting

should have gone for a ride yesterday late afternoon
but I dozed off and by the time I woke up it was too late!

anyway - better get ready

May I ask what make of cycling trousers you bought?
I am thinking of buying some, but not sure of where to start.

Barnet,
A bit of a damp drizzlely day today.
A shortish ride done earlier after vacuuming the downstairs, now waiting for our daughter to make her grand entrance.
