Morning

cold this morning
came down first as usual and it was 16 degree in the lounge!

first time this winter I have been the one to put the heating on

I have been to one festival
Radio One festivla when it was in Bangor - I lived there at the time
Went because my daughter was desperate to go

I saw Justin Bieber!!!!!

I was very impressed

not by his music
but by how professional he was - the way it was all done
and the way he interacted with the crowd (mostly girls) was brilliant

AND - I saw Chery Cole
who was terrible
wrost lip sync I have ever seen - even on joke sketches!!
interaction with the crows was - reluctant
body language was "do I have to be here2

awefull

also saw Lost Prophets - who were also brilliant but beyond that he less said about them the better

toilets were fine from what I remember

worst toilets were at RAF Fairford at the RIAT (air show)

ABsolutely disgusting
terrible
had to be breaking several Internation Regulations
people in charge should have been hung drawn and quartered at the very least

I mean - hygiene and cleanliness wish they were OK

BUT THE QUEUE FOR THE GENTS WAS FAR FAR LONGER THAN THE QUEUE FOR THE LADIES!!!!!

Just disgusting!!!

Last time I went to Fairford, some years back, my son was in a wheelchair as he’d broken an ankle. We never had a problem with the toilets 😀

Barnet,
Back in the 70's and early 80's i used to go to Santa Pod raceway to watch the Drag racing. The toilets there where just a large shack with corrugated tin roof and the urinals as such where just a ditch. The traps were just wooden cubicles and you sat on a plank of wood with a hole cut in them, and the proceeds ended up in the same ditch.
Terrible place.

The worst toilets I've ever come across were at Santa Pod in the early 80s.
I raced at the Pod several times and they were absolutely disgusting; never seen worse.

Salut.
Nice and sunny here today but I can't go for a ride because we are expecting visitors and we are having a bbq in the kota tonight.
Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be good too so I am hoping to have one then.
Enjoy the week end every one.

A south african guy i used to be friendly with was telling me he served in the army in SA (i think it was the equivalent to our TA) and while on overnight maneuvers their toilet was a ditch they had to dig, with a plank across.
Their uniform was a onesie with built in hood so they dropped the whole thing off their back while sat on the plank.
This, of course, meant the onesie hanging underneath so they were suppose to hold this out of the way while having a dump.
One new guy didnt realise that with the result that he 'dumped' right into the hoodie of his suit.
According to my friend the guy did realise until he was pulling his suit back up

Are you a lot younger than most of us on this thread or have you had a very sheltered life ? I think I first experienced festival toilets at Donington Park in 1983 . I think Meatloaf and ZZ top were on the bill, ( maybe Whitesnake too ) but it’s the toilets made such an impression on me that I never went back to a festival ever again 😂😀. I have been back to Donington park , to see motor racing a few times and the Sterophonics in 2001 and I have seen concerts in stadiums since , but 1983 put me off festivals for life . 😂

There must be people on this thread whos first music festival was a lot earlier than 83 . Come on folks when was your first festival?
1970s or 1960s ? 😀😀

I used to goto Donington Park alot for motor racing, and the toilets, even if they were permanent structures, were some of the worse toilets Ive ever used at an event, and that includes places which literally they just had dug a pit in the ground and suspended a board plank with a hole you sat on. But it was something to do with lack of water pressure, so theyd stop flushing at some point during a weekend, and they leaked alot (probably one of the causes of the low water pressure) so they stank, were never clean. quite horrible really.

I dont think Ive ever been to a musical festival, even though Latitude is virtually on my doorstep, as it (and now the surrounding area with all he airbnbs) gets full of pretentiously clueless posh folk, and theyve never had a set of bands/musicians I want to go see to justify the cost. which is pretty much the same for all festivals certainly thesedays.

Morning all from a very dark and very chilly Cheshire.....4° .
Rain stopped play yesterday so I need a walk as soon as my old bones feel its warm enough**
**when I was 21 I worked at Cadburys and lived some 4 miles away. The bike ride was all along the sea front (Irish Sea) and during winter that was was a hard, cold, windy ride......but at that age you just did it. But that was then and this is now
Where was Cadbury's Dave. I've never heard of one near the sea.

Re the portable bidets, this may be TMI but I encountered festival toilets for the first time this summer.
The horror, the horror.

Probably much better than back in the day as described below.

First festival was Zeppelin at Knebworth and that was very much a piss and crap were you can, next two were monsters of rock at Donnington that was pretty much the same plus plenty of scrumpy bottles filled with piss flying around the crowd.

Another bad one was the Genesis/Gabriel reform at Milton Keynes bowl (in October I think!), toilets were by the stage and I'm sure the pee was leaking out in to the arena.

Been to a few Moto gp's at Donny and the portable loos were always pretty rank; later ones at Silverstone were much better.

Moreton (on the Wirral).
I lived near New Brighton and the most direct route took me along the Irish Sea coast.
The Wirral is an interesting place. Its an oblong peninsular and it you stand at the 'top' you look out to the irish sea. To the right is the river Mersey......to the left is the river Dee.
You can take you bike by car and cycle 70 miles (out and back) traffic free.....a lovely, interesting ride.
