Received my 'you are getting £200 Winter Fuel Allowance' letter, today. Better than nothing.

Rain has stopped and I have de-leafed the car with a small leaf blower followed by a hose down.

Also squeezed some gym in, too.

What a morning!

And tomorrow is exciting too - let's hope we poor pensioners will be better off by the end of it!:okay:

Hope you are all having a good day, today!

Afternoon all . Spent the morning in the loft again and the car is full ready for another tip run at 3pm . ( I do love a tip with a booking system, no more queuing for 30 mins just to get in .) I recon two or probably three more trips will be enough to clear the stuff that needs to go from the loft. With another two trips needed for the rest of the house, that’s excluding the trips to the clothes bank. 😀
Anyway back to reason for all this house clearing , I’ve had a couple of quote's for the rewire come in day , the second was from the electrician thats mrs exlaser knows . The first one was £8000, the second one from the electrician we know was £3900 that a hell of a difference. I think you can guess which one we will choose 😀
The only thing is the first electrician could start on the 9th nov and the second one cannot start until the 23th nov but I can put up with a little discomfort for an extra two weeks to save 4 grand 😂.
The plan at the moment is to find somewhere to stay while they do the work .

The £8000 outfit could well have been a 'chancer'. Send out high, over-priced quotes, and some will stick and they are quids-in.

We had roofing quotes recently to replace our mortared ridge tiles (forever needing repointing) with a modern dry ridge system.

Quotes ranged from £2750 to £4800. The cheapest quote was from a reputable local outfit who did an excellent, and timely, job for us.

Granddaughter accompanied us on the group walk today and was rewarded with lunch in the local Spoons. Just received a WhatsApp message from my daughter who's in Madrid with our other granddaughter. They also did a ( guided ) walking tour this morning but they are currently sat at a table outside Chocolateria St Gines tucking into Churros and hot chocolate. 😎

Morning all.
A decent sleep was slept,.......its called sleeping the sleep of the righteous.
One thing to do and its a real pita. I have some tiles broken in the storm and found out they are no longer made. I have tried a couple of reclamation places with no success as they were an uncommon low angle type. Not sure what to do if I cant locate any.
Have a good day peeps.

Have you tried any local roofers, they sometimes have small stocks of older tiles.

Maybe they are reroofing a similar roof to yours, nearby. And can recycle a few tiles.

Or they may be able to suggest something more modern but very similar?

Drago has a campervan. Perhaps he would sleep in that while you take over his house?

Thanks.
My SiL has definitely found some (somewhere) but i won't know how many until later.
There is a roofer who has a good number at a price. He's 55 miles away but they are there if I need them.
