Was a rainy blowy start here but eased off just as we were leaving the house and actually got quite warm in the afternoon with blue skies and sunshine.

Day was spent in Cambridge having a wander mostly going in the many charity shops and two vintage clothing shops.

Got a couple of books; David Hepworths 1971 (signed!) and a book about travelling the country by bike searching for the best breakfast by Felicity Cloake (food writer mostly in the Guardian and the New Statesman and also signed!) Also got a nice silk scarf to use as a neck bandana and the BH picked up a Fossil bag.

Resisted the temptation of a nice fleece lined L.L Bean denim jacket in the vintage shop and then wandered to the old shop to pick up some forks before making our way to Cambridge North station via the local bakery although they didn't have any of their nice Millionaires.

Ended up walking 18k or so including walking to Ely station and back so should sleep well tonight

Scrambled eggs on toast for tea. Made from the eggs that I had whisked up ready to go in the cake that I was making, but forgot about until after the cake went in the oven...

So, as a cake ignoramous, what do eggs actually do for a cake ?

Found this image of a page from a Pratchett book (possibly Lords and Ladies)
He is talking about female warriors

Thought you lot would appreciate the phrase "something off the cover of the more advanced kind of lingerie catalogue for the specialised buyer"

Bind the ingredients together while it's baking and adds protein I believe. I'm an occasional baker and like to experiment. Today's effort was a Yorkshire Parkin. I substituted a ginger syrup for the golden syrup that the recipe called for.

And did it work ok without the eggs ?
