The day gets better.

Got about a mile and a half out of town before some close pass p***k had me off onto the verge. Broad daylight, nothing immediately coming the other way, so I can only conclude it was deliberate. Anyone who thinks daytime lights or high bis makes them any safer is a fool.

Bike undamaged, wrenched my left knee where I went over on my nearside. Sadlyndid not have the foresight to wear a helmet on my knee. Managed to ride home slowly. Taxi driver coming the other way stopped to check I was ok. He has a dashcam, will check when he finishes and call me. Also he would have passed an ANPR camera less than 30 seconds before encountering me so theres a change of an ID.

Reported to dibble. Doesnt look like the boys will be getting their lunchtime walk.

Jeez! Where was that? 😕

Newport Pagnell Road, heading out of town, just before the Preston Deanery/Great Houghton crossroads. Was going out the the forest for a few laps and a brew, then back up the Quinton road.

Clear road, good conditions, I was dressed in a manner that even Ray Charles would have seen me, so I can only presume it was deliberate. Theres an ANPR camera on the edge of town which it would have passed by...unless it turned out of St. George's Fields.

Im ok. Just hobbled round Tesco using the trolley like a zimmer frame and im now very achy, so Im guessing its sprained.

Hebden Bridge via Long Causeway today. It was cold tho, I should have a jacket on. Then back via Cragg Vale. Missed the train so rode all the way back. Hebden Bridge was nice. Pleasant people and nice shops, some good riding around there (hilly) but you have the Canal for easier rides

Well - we are home

I have had worse car trip but that was right up there

coming from Hever Castle
so round teh M25 to M40 - decided to go round clockwise rather than anti and up the M1

anyway - lots of delays - nothing major
then weird stuff
variable speed limit went up and down then down to 30 and th traffic stopped - except the outer lane which stop started

then there was a "Diversion follow" and a picture of a triangle
last we saw of the triangle
then a sign over every lane with an arrow up then angled left
next junction was sort of Southhampton and cornwall sort of places
and no-one seemed to move

anyway - stuck for ages mostly stationary and no chance of moving
then it looked like most cars were carrying on the M25
but some were pulling off onto the M4 - or something that goes due West anyway

after a lot of stading still and some slow moving we decided to just go West and see what happened
just as we decided that we say "land closed" signs over every lane ahead
but the vast majority of cars were just carrying on

weird but we just decided to go left and see

got onto the motorway and eventually got the the M40

then lots fo slowing down bits

and eventually were getting to Birmingham and it all just stopped
probably stationary for an hour or so
then it just started again - looked like the Police closed it due to an incident then opened it again

and again near SToke it jammed up - very slow but not as bad as before

now having a cuppa!

Used to live in Bangor - the pier is nice - always loved walking up it and back

When I was in the army me and some friends went to Bangor. Thismwoi,d have been 87 or 88. The four of us walked into a pub and every patron turned and stared at us and the place went silent.

We had such an unpleasant welcome from some of the natives over our stay that when one of my mates chucked his motorbike up the road we rode back to Hereford to get him looked at. My pillion was my GF of the time and she was Welsh, albeit living in England, and was disgusted at the way we were treated, haughtily breaking into welsh on several occasions to give them a bollarding.

Mind you, my own coutrymwn arent much better. Having lived neerly all my adult life in England and having been to public school Ive very little Scottish in my accent. Went to see my mate Gordon in Glasgow and got the cold shoulder and a few sarky comments a few times, so following my ex GFs example I broke into Shetlandic to remind them who the real soft southerners are. Never have a problem visiting my mate Keith in Edingburgh though.

When I lived there I knew a few pubs that could be like that

in Bangor they were few - as most of the town is more English language based

but move out of the town - sorry City technically - and they get more common
I have never had a problem - they seem to realise I lived there and were OK with us

but I have seen a few morons reacting to "tourists" - and they define that in far too wide a manner
and - for the love of all the Gods - they would be royally stuffed it the "tourists" stopped going there!!!!

EDITED - mistype changed to pub!
