Put it this way. I watch quite a lot of pro 14 matches and that standard of refereeing is nowhere near as high as the standard of play.

Whilst the officiating has favoured Ireland, England have been 5th best today - utterly dreadful,
Ireland very good and back to where they were a while back.

Yes, Ford has all the authority and an aura in this team. If he is making mistakes the confidence of the rest just collapses.

Watching that Smith interception again, he really needed to back himself. OK he may have ended up in touch but he never had any support and it was slowing down to take a look that ultimately made it easy for McLoskey not only to make the tackle but bundle him into touch.
