A very enjoyable match and tournament. Canada peaked in the semi against NZ and did England a huge favour by beating them. Congratulations to England, deserved winners built on a superb forward performance.

It was an enjoyable match and easier for England than I thought it would be, it was as you say built on a dominant forward display.
I agree that Canada peaked in the semi final, it all reminded me of the men’s World Cup years ago when France comprehensively outplayed New Zealand in a semi-final but couldn't replicate it in the final against Australia.

I think that being a team , was helped by the fact that they were happy in each others company , perhaps a basic difference between men & women, 'bonding ' you might say, slot of evidence of that throughout social media, the girls not only played for themselves , but for each other.... Something missing from the Mens game.
A very enjoyable game to watch, even predicably England steam rollered on wards.

There are a lot of people new to rugby, brought in by the spectacle of this World Cup. I found no issue with her giving some explanations to terms and rules that many wouldn’t know.

A great win by a great team in a great tournament. This is how the England flag should be celebrated.

Pretty sure they wouldn’t do the same on football. It was when an English player marked a high ball and the explanation was something like “when she looked like she was punching the air she was calling a mark which allows her to catch the ball and be able to take a kick”. It was on a par with saying in football “if the ball crosses the lines on the side of the pitch the player can pick it up and throw it back in”.

I commented to my (rugby-playing/coaching) wife that I hadn’t seen any marks during the tournament shortly before today’s; it’s not an obvious thing to a lay person so the explanation is worthwhile, especially as they are hoping to increase audiences and for many this tournament will have been an introduction to rugby.

Balls are kicked and received all the time but not often marked, unlike a throw in which is common, consistent and obvious.

Almost exactly like England v NZ in semis and Eng v SA final in 2019.
When England played their final in the semis and blew up in the final.

Cracking try for Leicester just now. No missed tackles but they timed a series of offloads to perfection to keep the move alive.

Really good game, having been stuck with a diet of URC for years the quality of the Premiership is so much higher. LRZ with some serious pace for the final try, good to see he’s still got it after his American folly.

Pity he's only biding his time till he joins this breakaway setup.

I don't think his US year was a folly. He has always been interested in American football, and I believe his father played it at amateur level in Wales some years ago. He gave it a go even though he was risking a lot and a year's more virtually guaranteed caps.

Anyone know why Fazlet was allowed to play this weekend when all the other Lions are still on their 10 week stand down?

Bristol have some major injuries after today. They also got away with a lot at the breakdown and had their usual blocking runners. One of their early tries should have been chalked off as one of the defenders was blatantly checked.
I thought LRZ did nothing until the final try.

To be fair, you may not be the most objective observer when it comes to Bristol. One thing I find watching the Prem is I don’t have any really preferences as to who wins (unless Sarries are playing in which case I’m all in for the opposition). I can’t say I saw either side getting decisions over the other today. As for LRZ, he didn’t get a huge amount of opportunities and it was his first full 80 minutes since coming back from the NFL so I think Lam was happy to see him still being match fit enough to run that try in at the end.

I think it might be something to do with the number of games/minutes played - he didn't arrive in Aus until later in the tour and didn't really play much when compared to the others . . . only my guess

Dorset Boy, you must be happy that planning for Bath's ground improvements can progress now?
I visited the Rec for the first time last week, is the scaffold stand on the right the first to be re-built?
