We go down to the docks and watch the ships come in. Fascinating to watch these massive things being manouvered about by the tiny tugs. Like watching an elephant being walked by a couple of Jack Russells.

We tend to have this up often, and can see the comings and goings. We sometimes time our walks to correspond with a ship coming in or going out. Nice to watch.

Saw some Russian sail training ships in Alesund at the end of the tall ships race. They were MASSIVE! Quite dwarfed the Lord Nelson that I sailed on!

Watching the Prairie Land heading for Peoria with some barges just now. I enjoy Marine Traffic.com quite a bit.
 
The nearest I ever got to a 'tall' ship was one of these:
