Within the last day or so I'm sure I've seen someone posting a link to the marketing agency Brooks use, which apparently set out the strategy. Now, of course, I can't find out. But it's pretty clear - it's all about creating an aura of top-end old-fashioned British style. The fact that the prices are quoted in Euros illustrates that they are not aiming for the domestic market (and, yes, I know Brooks is an Italian-owned company these days).
