I 've been wondering if the Encyclopaedia Britannica recipe for gunpowder is still somewhere out there on the internet. It served me well. It very nearly killed me too.
I had the privilege to meet him just twice on Forum rides, indeed a wonderful man. I also bought his Brooks saddle for my touring bike. I think of him every time I ride my Galaxy.
I went round to Vernon's house to collect a Ribble frame he'd advertised via this forum, so I got to enjoy his warm personality and see his lovely Woodrup stored in pride of place, in the kitchen. I remember him extolling the virtues of the Gates belt drive. I was only around for about 20 minutes - although that is a long time to just collect a £20 frame - but I left a happier person.
