The wind has finally broken me

I've been commuting 13 miles each way to work since last April.

I have only missed two days, both due to the wind speed being above 50mph (my self-imposed limit for safety reasons).

I live SW of where I work and generally speaking the prevailing south westerly is a lot lighter at 6am than it is on the way home, when it has invariably turned into a hideous headwind.

I don't complain, and having previously served 25 years in the Armed Forces have always been inclined to just 'Man Up' and get it done.

I don't know why, but tonight the strong headwind just really pissed me off.

AAAARRGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Phew! I feel better for that.

Thanks for listening.

I got sick of the wind and rain by December. Been in the car the last two months. What joy it's been (the car).

I'd give the usual warning about car commuting sending you do lally, but it seems I'm too late ;)

Last summer we did a couple of linear rides where we cycled out with the wind and took the train back. It makes you feel like a cycling God. Settle to Appleby is our favourite.

I've had the good fortune to do that once. The first few miles from Ely to Sutton was fighting a stinking cross-head wind, but then we turned and did Chatteris, March and Lynn with a strong wind at our backs. Beautiful!
