There is only so much you can do with a campaign, and thats what it was. To get people out of there cars and use alternatives is a real struggle. The reality is that the public don't want to use other modes of transport because they think it will damage there ego.

The attitude of the drivers are shocking to say the least. It won't work because of this that and the next thing, its all just excuses. The infrastructure is there as the woman pointed out, but its disappointing that no one is willing to give it a try.

The city of durham could face gridlock if traffic goes up by 10% as the council demonstrated by using computer technology. Very scary stuff but its not just durham that faces the problem its other cities aswell. Even if traffic goes up 10% and takes the journey time 10mins longer, drivers will still sit and wait to get to there destination without seeking other modes of transport. You and i know that britain lives in a car culture...its not the cars that are at fault its the people that drive them.

Yep - and something that was pretty obvious to Mr Buchanan in the "Traffic in Towns" report of 1966 which talks about people needing to exercise restraint in their use of the car. 42 years later....
