I'm currently working on a large construction site at Heathrow Airport,my colleague put his bag down for a few minutes whilst we carried out some inspections, when he went back to his bag he found his IPad missing!we started searching the immediate area and the bosses conducted some random searches of contractors bags,a couple of hours later someone found it hidden behind a wall heater ! (stashed there to collect later) a happy ending, as we all felt deflated about the theft, would have loved to see the scumbags face when he went back to find it missing .

Somebody should have done some surveillance to catch the ****** when he went back for it!

Glad it was found though...

What goes through peoples mind's.

Is a second hand ipad really worth losing your job for, if they got caught obviously?

I will never understand this sort of petty theft.

Metal theft. Stealing something that may be worth a fiver and causing untold damage and disruption. Not just the thieves but the scrap metal receivers without who it wouldn't happen.

That's what gets my goat.

Few years ago I was working in a block of council flats in Leeds, it was raining & as I went into the foyer there was water coming through the roof. Mentioned it to the attendant who went off to look, came back to say somebody had broken into an empty flat on the 5th floor, cut the pipes going to the copper hot water cylinder without turning the water off & stole it. I was there working on the CCTV so we played back the cameras & watched the guy come down the stairs with it & walk straight out of the building in the direction of the scrap metal guy just down the road. The attendant knew who it was, it was another drug using tennent on the same floor, caused thousands of pounds of damage, all for a £30 cylinder. Went back a couple of months later & asked what had happened to him, he'd been charged with theft but charges dropped & couldn't be evicted as that would make him homeless!!!!!

What's to understand? All it takes is a total lack of imagination and morality; sadly many people seem to have this combination in spades. The number of times I've found myself witnessing the details of a crime, and thinking 'how did they imagine for a single moment that they would get away with it?'...but of course the truth is, they never 'imagined' anything, beyond: I want it, I take it. Keep hold o' your goodies, folks...

I worked voluntary in a charity shop for 4 years (still occasionally do a couple of hours now and again) there was customers shoplifting and some of the staff thought they had the right to take what they wanted too!

Most will have a MAC ADDRESS. not sure about iPads. Will check my network when I get home
There is a "find my IPad" function that has two functions (providing it is connected to a WiFi or 3g)

Firstly it will tell you where it is and secondly it will at request start beeping at you

Secondly you can wipe it and render it unsellable

Forunately,it was found before it was "wiped"

Without turning this into an Apple argument....

The beauty of the Ipad is that it backs up regularly

If YOU wipe it and render it useless, then when the replacement arrives you simply restore from the backup. Virtually seamless.

Thisis totally unprofesional and not something I can condone or would ever dream of doing!

There is a dye called "Patent Blue" which we used for identifying lymph vessels and nodes. It is blue and indelible in no wqy describes the length of time it takes to remove.

We used to have a food thief who would nick yoghurts, chocolate and drinks from the communal fridge.

Then one night a couple of us got together with a blackcurrant yoghurt, peeled back the price label and injected several mls of Patent Blue... reapplied the label and waited.

Sure enough the following morning, no yoghurt and a nurse with blue lips, tongue and teeth

We of course had no idea how that occured, but somehow a rumour got round about the stolen yoghurt, identifying her nefarious activities and we had no further problems.
