I was staying in a Ibis once when the toaster started billowing smoke and then flames. One of the other punters, anticipating standing on the pavement when he wanted to be eating his breakfast, ripped the plug out and carried it by its lead to the door and chucked out into the street. The staff were dumbfounded, the majority applauded.

It seems as good an excuse as any to reprise my toaster story...
