Goretex. Not nearly as good as the price premium over the old-fashioned stuff might lead you to believe. Triumph of marketing & bullshit over performance. Slightly better than the cheap stuff, but not much more.

Paramo on the other hand is worth every penny

I've never really considered that specialised over promised and under delivered. Well not any more than any other manufacturer

It was a generic helmet.....

That reminds me, add Jamie Oliver's restaurant in Cambridge to the list.

Jamie's in Park Street Bristol is rather good (based on only one visit admittedly)

The Petite Blanc in Cheltenham - some sort of Maison Blanc offshoot was very poor for the money however, merely poor in fact. Shame it replaced the hotel's in-house restaurant which was excellent

C'mon guys insurance company's have to be at the top of this list surely. Although to be honest I didn't read the twelve page 'agreement' from cover to cover I was sure 'fire' was in there somewhere and not an act of God, jeez who else could get away with a scam like that and the 'financial adviser' (gag) had no idea where to contact who/what he claimed was responsible. "Does he even exist?" I challenged to no avail.
"Tom Wrigglesworth's Open Letter" show this week has some good insights into how corrupt insurance companies operate .

The Australian Prime Minister .

He's actually keen on cycling, and I hope he's better at that than running our country.

I've been using Trip Advisor, for as long as I've been on here, to look at places before we go and, providing you ignore the wierd, gushy and extreme posts, the comments are normally reliable... most people see through the hype and think the food is just awful, which it is.
