I'd prefer just to catch it and then be able to get on with more important things instead of having to dither about waiting... and if it turned out to be fatal then so be it!

[Same way I'd prefer to be at the epicentre of a nuclear explosion- to get it settled on the spot without having to put up with annoying stuff after.] Not morbid, just practical.
