Major air crashes.

Yes, I am aware of what happened in Nepal this week, and I acknowledge the grief of the families of those involved.

However, in the '70s I seem to recall an air accident involving a major airline every few months (DC10s losing engines etc). Now though, despite the massive rise in flights, a crash involving Western carriers is very rare.

Yes and train crashes, we haven't had a decent crash in ages!!

The centre I work at is in the middle of an urban nature reserve, which used to be a brick quarry, and then a landfill site. We recently started a local Oral History project with the aim of producing a book, and someone suggested for a title "I remember when it wasn't all fields round here!"
