I used to work for Littlewoods
in the side that dealt with the old Mail Order catalogues
and i sometimes went out to the warehouses to do things
I was talking to the manager of one once and he was talking about weird and wonderful things the company has done
Once of then was the decision to sell wedding dresses
sounds OK - why not??
welllllll
Mail Order cataligues have to accept any returns people send back
and Littlewoods were very serious about their guarantee that you could always retunr items if you didn;t like them
and although there was a time limit - it was NEVER enforced
so - back to wedding dresses
now out customers were the "less well off" part of society - the whole thing was aimed at that demographic
and now we sold traditional white wedding dresses
now put 2 and 2 together and think about the return rate
apparently it was over 90% returned!!
and apparently most of them had "stains" on then
only some of which were from food and drink shall we say!!
