Things you've forgotten to take on a ride

On a recent car-assisted ride I forgot to take my mitts.

I always ride with mitts - unless it's cold enough for full-fingered gloves - so the lack of them quite put me off my stroke.

Although I coped manfully riding bare-handed, their absence got me thinking about things you forget to take on a ride.

My mate Steve has twice turned out without water bottles - putting them out of sight in the fridge the night before was the cause of that.

What have you forgotten to take on a ride?

Gloves and pump today, in fact i forgot to swap my handle bar bag from one bike to the other so forgot pretty much everything I normally take on a ride.

Water (usually). Oh, it isn't a hot day today...but then the sun stops hiding behind the clouds. Or even sillier, I take the plastic bottle with me,
but I forget to fill it up with water at home. An empty water bottle is no good to me.

I went for a long ride ( for me anyway) of 40 odd miles on unknown roads and 13 miles in I looked down and realised that I didn't have my pump. Instead of counting my way up hills I was chanting please don't puncture, please don't puncture. I've pretty much forgotten anything that's possible to forget at one time or another, I am pretty scatty and disorganised !

Left out all my gear out for a mid week ride with my brother, threw the bike in the car and left. When I arrived at the start point, I realised I forgot my helmet, mitts and water bottle. The brother just rolled his eyes but I said you are lucky I remembered my bike.

Forgot to apply sun cream on a recent very sunny, very windy 50 mile ride. I don't ever tan, I just go red, then a few weeks later back to white.
People in the office have been asking me all week if I have high blood pressure.

I've forgotten mitts, sunglasses, helmet (controversial), pump, money / bank card and even water bottles - which were full but left on the kitchen worktop...

On a 100km audax, I found my trainers wrapped around the SPD pedals tolerably well but when one foot slipped off the other one rapidly followed suit. What larks!
