Had a friction pull disk on the front and V brake on the back of my mountain bike. Worked a treat.

Is this a subversive application of the Trigger's Broom theory to the desire for N+1

1. Change front forks and add disc brake
2. Change wheel
3. Change frame
4. Change rear wheel

Et - Viola a subversive introduction of N+1

Well i was going to add the front disc and wheel cause i love riding my Ti and wanted more use out of it - commuting as well as winter training.

So me and swmbo have decided so i get the use i want. I will sell my partially used 29er (commuting only) and my current sabbath Ti (winter/wet rides) and replace them with a disc braked Ti of my choosing, but no extra cash is to be spent from bank reserves.

So sales of other unused/unwanted bike pieces will aslo be used, budget around 2.5k

You have more control with the back brake.

Yes and no - the problem is that you're taking weight off the back wheel as you brake, making it more likely to lock and skid. You could maybe argue for using the back to control speed (rather than to stop, per se).

I've had bikes where the brakes were equal (although I tend to put a harder wearing compound in the shoes on the back, and a better stopper (Fibrax Xtreme, Koolstop Salmon) up front) but if I have a "weak" brake and a "powerful" brake, I want the latter up front, where it can do some good. Case in point is my LHT, which has a weaker (but probably better modulated) CR-720 in back, and a more powerful IRD CAFAM (effectively the same shape as a Pauls Touring Canti) up front.

"but i think im going with the on-one dirty disco frameset and build it around that within a very strict budget lol"

That was the plan with my XLS build but that's failing as I go along:rolleyes::whistle:

You need a powerful back brake so you can do a proper skid and lay down some rubber. :hyper::whistle:

Morning late to the topic but having tried the Sabbath out yesterday I may consider selling my Yukon so I guess my question is please advise whether this is a good idea.
PS my yukon is the 60cm model.
