Don't worry about that comment. Vic just had a general downer on all things specialized.

Not so, their mitts are excellent ;)
their bikes are just dull (and too common a sight imo)

However, all you can do is try a bunch of options and decide which bike is right for you. If you find the Sirrus the best, cool

Haha, ok, bikes then. Remember I have a Specialized Roubaix.......a black one.:tongue:

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I have now bought a Specialized Sirrus. They got an L and XL in for me to try. I ended up with XL.

For the cycling I intend to do this bike will be absolutely fine.

I've still got the Raleigh Elan to use too.

Time you enjoyed wasting was not wasted
Had a Sirrus Pro for 4.5 years, a great bike, been all over the place on it. Got an MTB and 2 road bikes as well, which I also love, but if I had to choose one above all else, it would be the Sirrus - so versatile. To be fair, I am sure other good brands do comparable hybrids. Good luck and enjoy your bike.
