Bet you can't get one with value for money like this:

http://www.fahrradgigant.de/Fahrrae...idler-RaiseRT-Li-He28-21Kweiss-11::52967.html

€299.00 is about £240.00

21 speed, ally frame, rear pannier, Shimano hub Dynamo, front and rear lights AND mudguards......

For £240.00 in this 'great' country, we'd struggle to get a piece of Chinese imported no-name pig-iron.

So there's the challenge, find a bike for less than £250.00 that would suit a person wanting to commute/shop/go to the pub/ meet friends/ reduce car travel?

Edit: just read that price includes tax......

I thought you said you wanted a new bike, not a new tractor :whistle:

Something else from Decathlon that's a better matched to the original post's specs and only £229

It's not exactly pretty but having bought a Decathlon Riverside 7 (now discontinued) for £350 in Orleans three years ago when my Dawes Galaxy snapped its frame I found that despite its unorthodox frame design, it was as comfortable and as fast as the Galaxy and proved to be the stepping stone to me having a flat barred touring bike built. The Riverside is now earning its keep with a pal of mine and it was a strange experience having it alongside me as I pedalled to Budapest with him.

Where are the bike snobs?

Though, expensive bikes are better than cheap bikes ;)

A bit OTT!

Even though I ride an expensive bespoke belt driven tourer there's always room in my fleet for bikes that cost less than £3.5k :thumbsup:

I've been a staunch supporter of the Decathlon touring/hybrid bikes since acquiring one and happily recommend the touring range ahead of the likes of the more expensive Dawes Galaxy and similar bikes.

I think that the 'less supportive comments' posted here were firmly tongue in cheek.

Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op - £249.99, it's in Scotland which is still a part of this 'great' country, for now.

http://www.edinburghbicycle.com/products/revolution-trailfinder-12?bct=browse/bicycles/commuter-hybrid-bikes

No rack and no dynamo lighting. Only 18 gears as opposed to the one in the original posting having 21 gears.

Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op has branches in England. I have one a couple of miles away from me in Leeds and they have underwhelmed me with their knowledge and experience of older cheaper bikes when seeking spare parts.
