I though it was "the great escape with the wire across the road"...

On other mtb forums there's a lot of talk of this being the work of the land owner??
Who ever did this wants the wire shoving up their arse..

aahh been sugested already lol

if it is the landowner simple reposition the wire at tyre height on their driveway......

It wasn't across a trail though. It was a fence to close off an unauthorised short cut that bikers had started using. Some fool cut the bottom of the fence but not the top strand.
The ones in the States were across trails. As to your particular situation, that is a case for British Law and citizen response.

Or a Times reader following what Matthew Parris wrote "A festive custom we could do worse than foster would be stringing piano wire across country lanes to decapitate cyclists"."
Did he really write this? He seems such a mild and humorous guy otherwise. If he wrote it, that's an appalling thing to say.

i didn't read anything remotely humorous in that article, the author is plainly an ignorant cyclist /cycling hater, I'm sure he would be screaming if someone did an article about reporters getting shot on sight for xmas.
