This has got to be a scam.

About an hour ago I put a Barbour jacket on Marketplace, and within five minutes get a response, from a woman who lives in Nantes according to her profile, here's how the conversation goes -

you get the cash - check it is all there - go and get the jacket and hand it over - video the whole thing as evidence
You have proof that it has all happened but they don't

so - maybe they claim they never got the jacket? demand a refund from Marketplace??
UPS person is not real??
they turn up with less money - but then you can just refuse to get the jacket - but it does put pressure on you to accept the lower price
Fake money?

dunno - anyone seen this is real life and how it goes down??

I've used facebook marketplace and all the replies were like that. Block and move on. I ended up deleting the listing.

total scam - happens a lot on Facebook - not sure how it works as never gone through with it , but check their profile and sure they will have just joined , no friends or pics just somehow after something for nothing

I have to admit that it's so obviously a scam that I hadn't even given any consideration to how it might actually work.

It's a well know scam. Also operates on eBay. UPS etc won't carry clients money.

I'd imagine that there's a problem with getting the cash to UPS, so they'll need my bank details instead.

Not quite, you'll get an email from UPS advising that an insurance payment is required for the cash delivery. As to why the buyer doesn't need to pay insurance on their money I don't know.

But obvious scam is obvious.

So - basically they introduce extra bit after the original apparently simple concept
and it is the extras that include the scam
