Not exactly sure where I should post this but if I need to move it please enlighten me.
Almost six months ago I launched a bicycle touring webzine called “Pico’s Cycling – Tales of the Road”. In some ways it is doing far better than I anticipated but in others it is falling short.
Under the current status quo I believe we can make it to our first anniversary but I don’t know how much longer it’ll fly after that. Right now I write three articles for it each month and my partner in crime writes two. There are a few problems with that.
Number one is that I’m spending too much time writing articles and not enough time improving the webzine. I need to attract writers. I don’t need a stable of regular writers necessarily. One off contributions would be just fine. We only publish five articles/stories per month.
The second problem is that I never envisioned this webzine as being about just one area or me. Every article we’ve published has been written by someone from New Brunswick, Canada. I’m still hoping to gain an international flavour.
Our focus is on bicycle touring. If you ride a bicycle and can write a short intelligent article or story, we’re interested. I especially like stories about families that cycle together and people who travel by bike. We currently don’t offer payment but we allow you to retain the rights to your work. I don’t have money to invest and the webzine is not currently generating money. Ideally that will change but it can’t under current circumstances.
If you have cycling stories to tell, I want them along with pictures from those stories. I have a budding photographer who can fill in some gaps if necessary.
