I have just read that there is going to be a play about Jimmy Saville's life and Alistair McGowen will play the part of Saville. I hope no one will go and see it and that it will be a flop. I think this is an insult to his countless victims and a real disgrace. The man should be forgotten and never talked about again. He is vermin and should be crushed .

I personally have no desire to see the play, but its each to their own and if you want to watch it then thats your right

Jonathan Maitland, the writer, has done some interesting stuff. I think it would be challenging viewing and will no doubt be protested about and subjected to numerous calls to be banned. I can understand the reaction in the OP and other replies though, it's a very recent and very grim affair.

Unfortunately, horrible things happen all the time in the world. It's important, I think, to examine and discuss them so that we can learn from our mistakes and aim to create a better planet for everyone.

The Internet will get hold of a screening eventually and churn out endless parody videos like it did to Hitler in Downfall.

I'm sure JS isn't going to come out of this smelling of roses. The dramatic potential, I'd imagine, will be in the charm + power v vulnerable and acquiescent officials. The fact that he got away with it is no longer an issue, it's more in the getting away with it that the dramatic potential arises. I reckon we should see the weak people in power who let him go Scot free letting themselves get manipulated. None of whom have, in so far as etc, have been held to account.

Yeah it's the same Jimmy Saville who laughed on his deathbed knowing that he escaped spending his last years in jail for his vile crimes.

Isn't it a bit premature to decide before even having a clue how it's to be treated? I doubt Saville will come out of it very well.
