My TT bike - square taper, 50t - notice absence of front changer. The chain usually converges onto a 14t fixed sprocket.
Cranks - how long?

Wot? No front changer on a fixed wheel? That's a bit controversial.

One of my bikes has a Rohloff and 165 cranks. The other has XX1 and 145 cranks. I hate double chainwheels.

There is a company called Bikesmith to which you send your cranks and they send them back truncated. This is for those sick pervs who insist on double chainwheels. If you only want a single you can get a BMX crankset like the Sinz of Sharky. I have Redline.

Yep, amazingly it's not needed, saving a lot of weight.

But I have ridden a fixed with a double chainset and a flip flop wheel. Small front ring/Large sprocket for riding out to an event, then flipped and rode large/small for the event.
