But if people of other colours and ethnicity don't turn up, what can you do?
Maybe advertise; blacks and Asians welcome!
Seems like looking for a problem when there isn't one.

as i said not an issue - just an observation in general. I think it's down to people from other nationalities to get involved and YES i do :-)

I

I think our new club chairperson is going to be a lovely Malaysian .... lady .... :becool: And we have a Mr Chang as well.

Otherwise, Abingdon is mighty white, that's the demographic we have to pull from.

@Fab Foodie - please don't think i'm having a pop at you or the good folk of Abingdon :-)

When I took up cycling again I was advised by a mate who did a lot of cycling to wear lycra bib shorts, they were padded and had no waist band to pinch irritate on long rides. I bought some and looked stupid in them, the first time I wore them I strode around the room, clapping my hands above my head shouting "Easy! Easy!".

The other beauty about Bib shorts (when you've got my midline) is no muffintops. Its It must be like wearing a girdle - and Jon-Q-Public will never know.

My 2p on class is defined by Foodmixers: My working class family used a Kenwood. My better half's middle class family refer to "the Magimix". The landed gentry blend with a Kitchen-Aid...

Anyway - great club thread @Fab Foodie - thanks for the pointer to afirm the view on the cycling community (whatever they bake with!)

A lovely picture, and please don't take this the wrong way ..... But isn't cycling so middle class and white?
Would love to see more Asian,African and Oriental folks take the social side of cycling up.
Good also to see that the MTN Quebeca team have had an African on their Pro team for a couple of seasons now & he's good too.

Looks fun although all the lycra and lids would put me off.. If there's similar for old duffers in jeans I'd be up for it^_^
Hi Glow worm.

I know what you are trying to say there & please take this in the spirit it is given, jeans yes, no lid NO.

I kinda know you are not advocating or endorsing or encouraging lidless riding & I get the spirit your post was given in but for the benefit of all & with some experience of RTA's or RTC's as they are now known.

Lids please.
