I really liked your video, my favourite rides are on an empty road when it's just me and the landscape.

How do you get writing onto the video? Do you have to run it through some software post-shoot, apologies if I am behind the times with this!

I used Sony Vegas Pro to edit it.

How do you attach a video camera to yourself in a way that allows you to compose the picture while eliminating vibration and keeping both hands on the bars?

You can't. It's a camera mounted on my helmet, what do you expect? My neck isn't made of concrete.

I know that. That's why I'm asking if there's an alternative way!

You could mount it on the bike or possibly run the helmet cam footage through some image stabilization software but your options are limited, as long as you ride on British roads, the footage is going to be shaky.

Great wee video Jaz yeah it was a bit jerky and sick inducing at times but thats the point you were only out for a ride and you are not a trained camera man or top notch film producer so i think some of the comments are a tad harsh

You showed some nice views and it got the message across about why you ride point proven

Thanks Ian. I do understand that some of the shots were shaky but as you said, these were just clips from my helmet and at the time, I had no intention of making something like this so I wasn't considering the shakiness etc.

i know m8 i think it was well done all things considered like others said the text don't need to stay on screen so long and font could be smaller if you want to add a bit of polish then fade the text out

You've never been out of Wales ave you and the Scottish Mountains are pimples compared to abroad ;)
You re comparing chalk and cheese, have a look at a map of carmarthenshire for instance then one of the alps anything strike you ?

This is a local loop and there are hundreds you can string together in this part of the world, this one is by no means the toughest http://ridewithgps.com/routes/new I spent 2 years riding in the alps when I worked out there in the eighties, the 2 are not really comparible scottish climbs lie somewhere between the two.

My point being you could do 10km climb 10km descent then 10 km along a valley in the alps or 30 kms of the above in wales neither are easy. Interval training or long base miles ? ;)

Jaz, here's an idea: washing machines have a big chunk of concrete on top of the drum to damp down harmonic vibration so why not mount a couple of house bricks on your helmet and pop the camera on top of them?

Yes, I will give that a try. Luckily I've already got a booking at the doctors for a new spine so that shouldn't be a problem

You need to save the route then post the route from the page it gives you, your link just goes to the route planning page on ridewithgps
