Yep, done the deed.
Just got back from a damp motorbike trip, returning from Somerset.
Here's Thorn's pdf Sherpa brochure if you're interested http://www.sjscycles.com/thornpdf/ThornSherpaBroLoRes.pdf
Initially I was attracted to Thorn's Nomad and many thanks to @SatNavSaysStraightOn on here for letting me try her OH's bike earlier this week (she has one too).
It's become apparent though that this model is overkill for my requirements. I want a bike that'll cope, fully laden with camping gear, with UK cycle trails including off road stuff. Thorn made it clear to me that the Nomad's for longer expeditions overseas. Who was I too argue? Leaving off Rohloff gears has saved me almost £1000. I can see how good they are, but I've got no axe to grind as far as derailleurs are concerned, so I reckon I'm getting the right bike for me.
Chose a couple of fancy options, including a dyno hub, but more of that when the machine arrives.
Now, I'm just very excited and waiting for an expected pick up at the beginning of next month.
What a lucky boy!
BTW It's red, like my motorbike cos, as all bikers (engined and otherwise) know, "... the red ones are the fastest".
Roll on November
