Another small victory to report.... also the left leg.... on holiday 3 weeks ago I trod on something sharp on rocks at the beach and since then it's been paining me in the pad of my heel. Went to a chiropodist this morning and she carefully shaved the skin off with a scalpel and out popped five tiny sea urchin spines, much thinner than human hairs. So that's three small improvements - tomorrow I'm going to enjoy the first discomfort-free ride for many weeks. It's gonna be good!

I got relief with "Deep freeze" gel, available from Boots and supermarket.
Allergic to voltarol and ibuprofen gel didn't do much

I try to limit my use of ibuprofen and other pain killers - though I have found the gel very good in the past.
I use an ice pack - and always stretch post ride - and sometimes I do some pre ride stuff to get certain muscles going - like squats with nominal weights. The real eye opener for me has been yoga - once a week that has dramatically reduced my aches and pains...
