it is a well known fact that car speedos read higher than reality - it's illegal to provide a speedo that reads less than the speed the vehicle is doing, probably a minefield of who's to blame for it too so manufacturers go on the side of caution

Maybe the driver was so intelligent that his speedo was showing 40, and he automatically worked out my true speed as 34
