Now lets start a light hearted thread based on the following statement.
  • When does a bike rider become a cyclist after all every cyclist is indeed a bike rider?
Your musings on this topic please.

some ride old decrepit bikes.
some ride the latest road bike.
some ride anything at all, just to get there.
some wear all the latest gear.
some couldn't care less what they wear.
some ride loads of miles.
some only ride to the shops and back.
some like to think they are cyclists.
some only think they are part-time cyclists.
and there are those who are on this site and know that they are real cyclists!

Not quite true. I cycle on four wheels, a bike only has two wheels by definintion.

I think if you ride a lot like regularly, commute to work or doing it for sport and love it enough to be on this forum I think it's safe to say your a cyclist!

But if your bike is gathering dust thrown in the back of the shed and you only ride a couple times a year, maybe with the family on a hot sunny day then are you really a cyclist?

Can't believe we're having this discussion again. Is it me or is this question coming round about once a month now?

For what it's worth I think a cyclist is anyone who rides a bike. The correct term for anyone who thinks there's a level you have to reach to earn the title is 'a poser'

In true CC tradition I'll now sit back and listen to a variety of retorts ranging from the mildly abusive ones to the scientifically proven by the use of string theory ones :banghead:
