three wheels on my wagon
I have just started to put together my second 1950s butchers bike to sell as a rideable bike. Having got most of it together I have found that the bottom bracket shell has stripped its thread. Is there an over sized bottom bracket available (not tandem as that would be to big). I am not worried about originality as it is going to be a bit of a bitsa as I do not have the time or inclination to trawl through ebay to find period parts. I will post a photo soon

cheers Gaz.

A threadless BB will get you out of this particular hole.

YST, Acor or Zenith (scroll down towards the bottom of the page) all make quite cheap ones, or there is the Velo Orange Gran Cru.

However, I recommend you do some research as, when I looked into them, I found people had varying degrees of success with them.

An alternative would be to fill the threads with braze and re-tap them.

Cheers but needed one to fit a traditional cottered chainset, at the moment my LBS has dug out a deep cup which screws in further and this seems to be holding but won't be able to tell til I have ridden it. If this doesn't work I might fit a grub screw to old it.
