Just swapped everything over from old bike to new frameset.

Put bike on wall rack, looking up noticed a threaded hole on the underside of the top tube, normal bottle cage type hole.

I'll never use it just curious what it's for, some sort of bag attachment perhaps?

A number holder for when racing maybe?

Here is a snap.

My thinking for bag attaching was brought about by the bike having pannier bolt holes on the rear.

I know that some people add their own bosses therefor a frame bag - is it a gravel/touring setup?

Yes it is by and large set up for touring, relaxed geometry, mudguard eyelets, pannier holes so I think like you it is take some sort of bag clamping boss.

Personally will never use it, just to my memory have never seen one before.

I have enough trouble hauling myself around without adding any extra weight 😊

If you are not going to use it I would put a bolt in it to stop any water ingress.

It might be for a pump clip.

Some pumps only require one, the other end being curved to locate against a frame tube.
