Thunderbird and Google email query

Anyone using Thunderbird with their Googlemail account? For some reason, when I send someone an email in Google webmail while out and about, on my return home, a copy of the email I sent is waiting in my Inbox in Thunderbird as unread mail. What's going on?

I suspect a setting in either Gmail or T'bird is to blame, but which and where?

have you gone over the settings on the gmail site for thunderbird?

And are you using POP3?

Probably need to untick 'send yoursef a copy' option on one of them settings. A obscure method to prevent this would also be to create a filter in gmail that trashes all from "youremail"@gmail.com so that in doesnt reach the inbox.

Rough hack but may work.

Personally, I really like that feature! I always like to keep copies of email I send and that ensures I have a local copy, not just the Gmail server copy.

Me too - if it was just going into my Sent items box, I wouldn't mind, but it's going into my Inbox instead. My home pc's Gmail Sent box in Thunderbird is only showing Gmail sent from home. My home pc's Gmail Inbox in Thunderbird is showing Gmail I have sent when I'm away from home - it's displaying it as unread messages coming in to my Inbox. Weird!

Garz - That's what I thought, but I need a bit of time to go hunting for it if that's what's causing it.

Gaz - am using IMAP rather than POP3.

Hmm... just been having a quick look at the filter option in Googlemail, but there doesn't seem to be a way to tell Gmail to put any 'sent' mail that has gone out from the webmail facility into the Sent box of Thunderbird rather than the Inbox.

Or am I missing something? Quite possibly am, as I haven't been using Thunderbird that long!
