You b'stard Sungod! Don't you ever sleep? Thread ruiner! 🤣

Morning. Shoot sleep. Very very very odd, vivid dreams. Kept waking from 1.30 till now with an eye on the clock every 20 mins or so.

Snoozy day unavoidable!

Morning all. Set for a warm one here. Blue sky's and golden orb all day. Currently feeling ruff as one of knees is giving me gip. Luckily going away tomorrow so can have a rest. Enjoy the golden rays folks.

Up early to take 'van to the garage to find out why it's splaffing out white then black smoke on start up. Only getting used 3 or 4 times a year might be the root of the problem.
Nice run back: shared my coffee with the lark.

Gave it the Italian tune up on Monday but it didn't cure it. It's 17 years old but has less than 60k on the clock. Have noticed a slight performance drop off in the last few outings but this week it's been breathing like a 90 year old asthmatic.

Morning

'Rays' ?! What are these things to which people speak of?
Today will be cutting grass and assembling all the stuff ahead of the annual vacation. Yes, the Ministry of Muppetry is on tour again.
Some surreptitious activity required so as not to alert Beans - who's already attacked me this morning.
They love hm at the cattery. I always ask for a discount seen as he is so popular and famous and they think he's cute and he provides essential cat vibes but no discount yet. Much disappointment.

Decent run in the Shropshire hills last night, today is work snizzle and later might as well ride a bike in the sunshine with a pal

London is cooking on gas today - was a warm ride in this morning and is going to be a sweaty one back this evening. There's a cold Cider in the fridge to rehydrate for when I get back.

Onwards to tax and stupidity mitigation...

Hmm...

Problems, problems. At best, air filter. At worst, cracked cylinder head. In between those extremes is a long list of potential problems.

White smoke is generally a sign of unburnt fuel.
It could be injector foul up. In which case add some Forte/Redex fuel system cleaner and take it for a decent run. Take the air cleaner housing off and have a good look at it. It might be damp or clogged.
Those are the easy basic things you can do. The black smoke (which I presume clears) is synonymous with valve stem oil seal deterioration and seals within the Turbo - often only revealing when it's been sat for a while.

Otherwise, the good news is that you have a Duratorq engine which are bomb proof. My trannie I sold with 142k on the clock sold locally and it's just hit the 185k mark. Plus, spares for the Duratorq engine are reasonably inexpensive. Finding a replacement Duratorq engine with low miles in good condition is nigh on impossible as they are well sought after.
