Tiagra 4700 chain

Having never owned a 10 speed groupset (I've had 7, 8, 9 and 11 but oddly skipped 10!) I've now decided to upgrade an old bike and bought a Tiagra 4700 Groupset that I found at a reasoanble price. The choice of chains is bewildering with warnings on various forums about compatibility issues!

I've been recommended both the Shimano CN-HG54 and the Shimano CN-6701 and after about an hour of googling I'm no closer to working out if either/both are suitable?

Various sites have the 4700 groupset paired with both of the above but various sites also warn of compatibility issues between them!!

Can anyone (preferably someone running a 4700 setup) guide me through the minefield please???

I use a KNC nickel plated chain on my 10 speed Tiggy set up. Very nice it is too, and cheaper than the Shimano ones.

Is that Tiagra 4600 or 4700 and is there a difference, as is implied in numerous forum threads

No difference on the chain specs.

had to shorten it by half a dozen links but that's quite normal I guess?

Just as well because I lost the will to live last night and ordered one of each! I guess I can fit either and keep the other as a spare then

Yup. A 10sp chain is a 10sp chain, so you've just got a spare to put on after winter.
