Time to upgrade

This morning I dropped my Cervelo Aspero with 1 x Apex group set in at the LBS for an upgrade to 2 x Rival eTap.

I ummed and ahhed about buying a new bike but in the end decided I’d throw some money at what has been my favourite bike, not the fastest but the one I go for first. It’s done very nearly 10,000 miles.

It needed new pads, chain, cassette, bb bearings so the timing was right.

Hoping it might be ready for the weekend.

Only just breaking it in. Good as new.

Frames should be good for decades unless you leave in a salty damp environment.

The brand new etap just released? Really like the look of it. All my bikes are electronic shifting now. I never had any problems with mechanical but don't think I would ever go back to it now.

i suspect not the very latest, but we will see soon.

i had a number of issues with the Apex and had upgraded the rear mech already.

If money had been no object I’d I have changed it to di2 which I have on my road bike.

Either way it will still be a great groupset.

Wow, no distance at all. Were they rim braked and thus rims worn out?

If rimmed wheels wore out at 4000 miles they must have been made of paper.
