I see Enigma are having a 'factory sale' starting 14th August. If you are willing to compromise on TAs you might get lucky & bag a bargain :okay:
They have this reduced but wrong model and size (56cm, I need 54).

The non disc Etape is reduced in 52cm but again not what I want and too small

And a reasonable expectation that the company will still exist over that timeframe.

Well that's very valid point, with so many companies starting up and offering the world only to disappear a few years later or starting up under another name, mentioning no names. At least Kinesis has been trading since around 1999, even if the warranty period is somewhat short!

That was also the appeal of Enigma. JGuillem are a well financed spin off from van Nic.

I was originally quite keen on the Enigma Etape, went down to the factory and even paid to have a demo bike for a week. To be fair it rode like a absolute dream (even if they sent me a 56cm instead of a 54cm to try?) and as such sent me on the Ti framed route for sure.

But the disc version is just a lash up of the caliper braked frame and the hydraulic pipe run for the rear brake is hideous beyond believe IMHO.

I'll be having mechanical brakes. They are now redesigning the frame

Your choice, but why would you opt for mechanical brakes, sort of defeats the advantages of hydraulics really?

Plus, I asked Engima at the time about possible frame changes and they told me that as it was their most popular selling frame they had no plans at all to alter it. Low and behold and literally weeks later, they announce plans of a frame design revamp and stopping production of the caliper framed version. So really glad I didn't order one at the time then, coz I would have really hacked off!

Because hydraulic shifters are too big and uncomfortable for my hands and are fugly beyond belief, and I like cross levers when in traffic (much of my riding)

From what I can tell for me and my riding, no big descents, I don't think there's any advantage to hydraulics especially if I can't brake comfortably!

Hydraulics also cost more

I think many manufacturers have been waiting to see whether the industry settles on a standard TA size before developing the frame. This seems to have now happened from several conversations

We have had 17 pages of this, you have to buy one now, or we will call you Accy in perpetuity.
I'm spending 3x as much on a bike as he is on a crap hairdresser car...I think it's justified ;) I have at least tried some out

Maybe you'd like to offer an opinion

However, potential need for expensive dentistry might kibosh the purchase!
Why not include titanium in the dentistry? ^_^

Unfortunately it's potentially specialist revision root canal. Having the tooth pulled out would be cheaper
